Tryouts

Saturday, March 29, 2008

9:00 am

Sign up for tryouts by March 15th and receive 30% off of your registration fee.

Fees must be paid when you sign up.

If you are unable to attend tryouts, call Coach Nena to set up an individual tryout.

Prospective cheerleaders are required to tryout for this program, and selections of squad members are at the sole discretion of the coaches and judges. Team tryouts will be held annually in March or April, and are open to anyone. Current team members must tryout. All athletes are guaranteed a spot on the team; however, squad assignments may change from season to season so try-outs are essential.

During try-outs the gym is closed to everyone except staff & athletes!
• A white t-shirt, black shorts and white tennis shoes must be worn to tryouts. All hair should be pulled securely out of the face and into a ponytail if possible.
• Absolutely NO jewelry may be worn to tryouts. If your child has newly pierced ears, they must be covered by band aids.
• Some measurements will be taken at tryouts. Please wear hot pants and a sports bra under clothes to insure that this process goes quickly.
• Try-outs are based on a variety of skills, characteristics, and attributes. Coaches will evaluate prospective cheerleaders in the following areas: jumps, tumbling, showmanship, overall technique, flexibility, strength, overall potential and attitude. Questions regarding squad placement must be made in writing to the head coach.
• Coaches reserve the right to place cheerleaders on any team at any time for the benefit of the program.
• You will be required to maintain or increase your skills in order to remain on the squad that you have been placed on.
• Squad rosters will be posted the day following tryouts by 3:00 pm. Please do not call the front desk of The Club for your child’s placement.
• All registration forms and medical release forms will be filled out at tryouts, therefore a parent must accompany each child. Please bring your insurance cards.
• Practice-wear package fees and non-resident fees must be paid at tryouts.
• Because Texas Twister Cheer is a Club program, any resident interested in having their child join MUST be in good standing with New Territory Home Owners Association. In other words, you must be free of assessments and deed violations.
• Any young man wishing to join Texas Twister Cheer will receive a scholarship his first year. This scholarship includes 50% off monthly tuition, camps and their annual non-resident fee, if applicable. (No discounts can be given on uniform packages.)
• During the season, new members are welcome to join Twisters. Anyone who misses tryouts but would still like to join the Texas Twisters may contact Nena at (281)565-1995 to schedule a tryout appointment.
