Practice

• All practices are mandatory. A squad cannot practice a routine when members are missing. If you have to miss a practice, you must contact your coach before hand.
• A practice-wear calendar will be distributed monthly. Failure to follow dress code will result in team conditioning and/or your child sitting out of practice. Cheer shoes, biker shorts, a sports bra and having your hair up are also part of your practice uniform. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.
• Absolutely NO jewelry is allowed in any practice. If your child wears any medical alert pieces, they must be secured with first aid tape. It is not a good idea to have your child’s ears pierced until after the season is over.
• In order to have effective practices, your child must arrive on time. “On time” means ten minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Children who arrive late will be required to stay after practice for conditioning. Excessive tardiness or absences are disrespectful to your teammates, the staff and the program. It WILL eventually result in your child’s dismissal from the Twisters.
• Once your child arrives at The Club for practice, they need to immediately go into the gym. While we want your child to feel at home, The Club is a place of business and our lobby should be treated as such.
• Food is not allowed in the gym of The Club under any circumstance. Water is acceptable, but must be left along the wall and NEVER brought around any of our equipment. Our front desk staff is aware that they are NOT to sell concessions to the cheerleaders until after their practice has ended.
• All practices are closed to spectators, parents, siblings, etc. The only people allowed in the gym are Twisters’ cheerleaders and the coaches.
• Communication of any kind, between athletes and family, while practice is in session is unacceptable. Directing your child during practice is disruptive & disrespectful not only to the cheerleaders, but also to the coaches. Please, wait until break to communicate with your child.
• There will be allowances made for missing a practice in some instances:
Contagious Illness
Death in the Family
Graded School Activities
Absences that are not considered excused are:
Non-Contagious Illnesses - You can sit and watch; revisions are common.
Optional School Activities - Twisters is your main commitment.
Birthday parties - Twisters is your main commitment.
Transportation Problems - There are enough of us, you can get a ride.
Homework/Tests - Plan ahead. We break for final exam time.
• If the material missed at a practice can be taught to your child individually, your child will be required to make up the missed practice and fees for “privates” may be assessed.
• Please do not use Twister practices, camps or competitions as a punishment for your child. Remember, when your child misses a practice, the entire squad suffers.
• If a cheerleader misses practice for any reason, the coaches hold the right to change their position in a routine and take them out of the upcoming performance.
• If a cheerleader is injured and not allowed to practice, he/she will be required to bring a doctors note stating when he/she may begin practice.
• Muscle strength and flexibility are vital for any athlete. Conditioning will be included in every practice. With the proper training, the risk of injury is significantly reduced.
• Friends and family please do not interrupt training or practice sessions. If you need to speak with a coach, please do so after the session is complete. If you have any questions regarding your child, please feel free to email or schedule an appointment with the coach or coaches at an appropriate time. However, coaches will not discuss other athletes.
DO NOT EVER confront a coach in front of other athletes or parents.

The practicing of cheer stunts and/or tumbling in the home or on grass can be extremely dangerous. Please save tumbling for the gym!!!
