Commitment Requirement
The very definition of competitive cheerleading is that of a TEAM sport. To be a member of the Twisters team requires a solid commitment from the participant, as well as their parents. Your commitment is not only to your child, but also to the other squad members and their families. Dedication to this activity is a must.

Please be aware of the following information regarding team commitment:

• The sport of competitive cheerleading requires a one year commitment. Our season typically runs from April to March. This applies to all squads and all ages.
• In general, it is almost impossible to do competitive cheer and another sport/activity.
• All squads will have mandatory practices every week which include tumbling, but we will also offer optional private lessons and/or tumble classes.
• Being on time to practice is a MUST. Tardiness is unacceptable.
• Occasionally, we may extend practice times and/or add practices when a competition nears. These practices are also considered mandatory.
• Cheerleading competitions are typically held on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Competitions are held all throughout Texas and Louisiana. They are almost always an all-day event. Some regional and national competitions may involve travel and hotel stays.
• For out-of-town competitions Twister staff will make hotel arrangements. ALL athletes will be required to stay at the designated hotel. In some instances we may use charter buses for competitions. In that case, all athletes are required to ride the bus. Hotel and bus costs are not covered in tuition or competition fees.
• Tryouts will be required for current Twisters, as well as prospective members each spring.
• During the month of August, there will be a MANDATORY, week-long camp for all squads to learn and finalize routines for the new season. NO excuses will be taken for missing this  camp.
• June and July are considered “off” season in competitive cheer. Families are free to take vacations at will, however regular practices will still be held and tuition will still apply.
• Parents of squad members are automatically part of our Parent Booster Club, and therefore obligated to help in some capacity with fundraising and sponsorship efforts. You will be cheerleaders for the cheerleaders!
• Financially, the commitment to competitive cheer can be substantial. The benefit of our program is that New Territory is a non-profit organization. As such, we are able to keep costs to a minimum. We cover our expenses only and pass the savings on to you. Where uniforms are concerned, you pay what we pay.
• In addition to monthly tuition and competition fees, you are responsible for a competition uniform package as well as a practice-wear package. Non-residents must also pay an annual fee of $95.00.
• While we collect tuition on a monthly basis, competition fees, uniform fees and non-resident fees are all paid early in the season. Once paid, absolutely NO refunds will be given on the above-mentioned fees regardless of when a child may withdraw from the program.
